Snake plants are hardy houseplants that thrive in varying light conditions, making them perfect for beginners. Plant your Snakeplant Starter indoors, in well-draining soil with bright indirect light. To encourage rooting and establishment, water the container fully once every 2-3 weeks initially and allow it to drain fully. Once new growth appears, water your snakeplant around once per month indoors. They do prefer dryer soil, as overwatering can cause rot.
Once established, snake plants need 8 to 10 hours of indirect sunlight per day, and they can tolerate a few hours of direct sunlight. Water your snake plant when the soil has completely dried out, being sure to water deeply. It is better to underwater a snake plant than overwater.
